North Lake Campground is situated among the trees and adjacent to the north fork of Bishop Creek. It is a lovely campground - all 11 campsites have shade among the tall Jeffery and Lodgepole pines. Three of the sites are very short walk-in's. The remainder have small parking spots at the sites. The road to North Lke is partially paved and partially gravel and is narrow and winding. Trailers and RVs are prohibited. In the spring and early summer, mosquitoes can be an annoyance. No piped water.

This is a nice tent area frequented by fishermen and backpackers. No RV's or trailers permitted.

The elevation is 9,200 ft. The campground, pack it in, pack it out, is a single loop through a pleasant stand of Aspen and Lodgepole pine next to North Fork Bishop Creek. Only 0.5 miles from the well stocked North Lake, the campground offers everything an angler might want. Grass and wildflowers provide color but little privacy. Some walk-in tent sites are tucked in among trees and are the most private. Bear box food containers are found throughout campground. The nearby Cardinal Village Resort offers a variety of services from limited groceries and fishing supplies to internet access, a cafe serving breakfast and lunch, and much more. This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques. "Possessing/storing food so bears/wild animals have access will result in a fine of at least $150."
Open May 16 through October 15 Inyo National Forest 131

Early to mid-September hits the sweet spot: daytime temps around 40–60°F, nights dropping to 20–35°F, aspens in full color, and the mosquitoes finally gone. Summer brings those mosquitoes in force. Reviews mention them repeatedly, so pack serious bug spray if you visit before August. The campground closes September 21, cutting the fall window short. Winter comes early at this elevation and the access road becomes impassable.
Early–mid Sept is peak: cool days, crisp nights, aspens in full color, mosquitoes gone.
No piped water. No electrical hook ups.
