<p>Stunning views of the turquoise-colored Clear Lake and 3000-year-old lava fields make this campground an ideal location. The campground sits on the south end of Clear Lake in a mix of maple, alder and Douglas fir trees. On a clear day, catch a glimpse of the Three Sisters Mountains and Mt. Washington. There are 34 campsites (31 single, 3 multiple). Sites #7 and #10 are accessible. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided. The elevation is 3,100 ft. The campground has two unnamed overlapping loops on the east shore of Clear Lake. Clear Lake is spring fed with an average year-round temperature of 33 degrees Fahrenheit and so clear you can see the freckles on a fish's chin. Evidence of an old lava flow can be seen throughout campground. A pleasant mix of deciduous trees such as maple and alders, and towering conifers including hemlock and Douglas fir, grow out of rivers of chunky lava and provide ample shade. Although "spotty," the middlestory of rhododendron, Bitter cherry and other shrubs give sites good to excellent privacy. Some campsites in both loops have a limited view of Clear Lake. The campground is far enough away from State Rt. 126 so that traffic noise is muffled. This is an attractive campground on a very pretty little lake that is great for canoeing. The nearby Clear Lake Resort has snacks, fishing equipment and breakfast and lunch menus. A pleasant daytrip is walking down to the Koosah Falls, next to Ice Cap Creek campground, and a little further upriver is the spectacular Sahalie Falls.
Open May 23 through October 12
