Big Pool is a small, shady, group site campground situated between Forest Service Road 18 and Fall Creek. Expect heavy use during summer weekends.

The elevation is 1,900 ft. The campground, located between State Rt. 58 and Salt Creek, has two unnamed loops and a spur for walk-in tent sites. These tent sites stretch along the creek and are well away from the other sites. In an old-growth grove of cedar, hemlock and Douglas fir, the campsites have ample shade and some have a view of the creek. Salt Creek can be heard as well as Willamette National Forest 434 traffic noise from Rt. 58. Evidence of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) handiwork can be seen in the stone fire stoves and inoperative water fountains. According to the Forest Service, "Fishing and swimming are popular activities" at the campground. Firewood is available for a fee. A possible day trip is to the undeveloped McCredie Hot Springs, 0.5 miles east of campground on Rt. 58.
Open May 15 through September 27
The parking aprons are paved. Grey water disposal sites are scattered throughout campground. A waste station is available for a fee on State Rt. 58 at Oakridge RV Park in Oakridge, OR.
From Oakridge, OR, take State Rt. 58 east 8.1 miles to campground on right.

Best season: summer. Summer is the clear best time because Big Pool is officially open June 1–September 19 and the weather at 3,648 ft is reliably pleasant for creek-side camping (daytime highs commonly 65–85°F, nights 40–55°F). This is when Fall Creek is warm enough for wading, light swimming, fishing and the trails/rocky ledges are most accessible for sightseeing and photography. Expect peak recreation (weekend groups in July–August), so reserve early; also watch for wildfire restrictions and bring insect repellen Peak months: July, August, June, September Avoid: October, November, December, January
Open June–Sep; summer is best for creek wading/swimming and pleasant weather at 3,648 ft.
