Go if

Anglers who want serious walleye, bass, and muskie water with multiple boat ramps close at hand. Kids love feeding carp at the spillway, and shore access is easy across flat terrain. Book six months out; cabins and shelters fill fast.

Skip if

Pets aren't allowed, so leave the dog at home. Strong lake winds flatten poorly staked tents, and early spring visits risk cold, wet weather that shuts down campfires before they start.
