Best season: fall. Fall offers the best combination of comfortable weather and spectacular scenery — peak leaf color typically occurs in October with daytime highs commonly in the mid-40s to mid-60s and crisp nights in the 30s–40s. Cooler temperatures and fewer biting insects make hiking, wildlife viewing and shoreline fishing especially pleasant, and boating on Shenango River Lake is often calmer after the summer winds. Crowds are moderate (busy on weekend leaf-peeper weekends), and campground facilities are open Peak months: October, September, May, June Avoid: January, February, March, April
Fall is best for leaf color and weather; October peak foliage and fewer bugs.
