Four tent pads with no buffer between them and a full shelter means no solitude on busy fall weekends. No fires, no potable water, and no road access rule this out for anyone not arriving on foot.

Fall delivers the best conditions: crisp days between 40–55°F, cool nights dropping to 20–35°F, and peak foliage from late September through mid-October at this elevation. Insect pressure drops, ridge views open up, and crowds thin out compared to summer. Popular foliage weekends still draw day-hikers. Winter through early spring brings frigid temperatures and significant snow. Rain and mist are common during shoulder seasons. Summer offers comfortable mountain temperatures but expect more traffic.
Fall described as best: crisp days, peak foliage late Sept–mid-Oct and lower insect pressure.
