Best season: summer. Summer offers the most reliable access and the warmest, most comfortable weather for hiking, biking and creek-side fishing — expect daytime highs roughly 65–80°F and nighttime lows around 35–50°F at 5,800 ft. Trail access is clear, Sheep Creek is fishable with active brook and rainbow trout, and long daylight makes multi-hour hikes and scenic rides easy. Campsites are still quiet compared with busier state parks, though summer weekends see the highest demand at this small 10-site campground. Peak months: July, August, September, October Avoid: November, December, January, February
Summer offers most reliable access and warmest weather; campground open late May–Oct.
Jumping Creek Campground is located at an elevation of 5800 feet along US Highway 89 in the Little Belt Mountains. The 10 campsites are positioned along Sheep Creek. The campground includes potable water available via a manual pump, handicap-accessible vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings at each campsite. "The dry toilets were fairly clean, but there was paper," noted one user. However, there is no electrical service or dump station available. Reviews highlight the accessibility and spacing of the campsites, with one stating, "The pitches are distanced from the other and well leveled."
