Best season: summer. Summer offers the most reliable access, the warmest daytime temperatures, and the fullest range of activities — expect daytime highs around 65–80°F and cool nights in the mid-30s to mid-40s. Trails and gravel roads are typically dry and easy to drive, making hiking, mountain biking, fishing on Whitetail Creek, and wildlife viewing at their peak. Crowds are moderate compared with lower‑elevation parks, but book early for July–August weekends when the cabin and trailheads see the most visitors. Peak months: July, August, September, June
65–80°F days; trails dry by late June; best time for hiking, biking, fishing.
