Best season: fall. Fall offers the clearest benefit: spectacular northern hardwood color and crisp, comfortable weather for hiking, fishing, and lakeside relaxation. Daytime highs in September–October typically range from the mid-40s to mid-60s°F with nights dropping to freezing at times, so layers are essential. Wildlife viewing and solitude are at their peak as summer day-trippers thin out, but be aware of rifle deer season in late October/November and wear blaze orange if hiking then. Peak months: October, September, June, July
Fall called best season: cooler temps, foliage, fewer bugs and excellent views.
