In September and early October paddling, hiking, wildlife viewing, and photography are at their best — mosquitoes and black flies largely disappear and lakes remain calm for canoeing. Crowds thin after the busy summer reservation window, so you’ll enjoy Peak months: September, October, August, June Avoid: November, December, January, February
Fall called best: peak foliage, cooler temps, far fewer bugs and excellent hiking conditions.
