Best season: summer. Summer offers the most reliable weather and the safest, most enjoyable access—expect daytime highs in the mid-50s to mid-60s°F (13–19°C) with cool nights in the 40s°F (4–9°C). Water and paddling conditions are at their friendliest, trails are clear, and backcountry sites at Chippewa Harbor are fully usable for hiking, canoeing/kayaking, fishing, and shore exploration. This is the busiest time of year on Isle Royale (peak boating and ferry traffic), but because the island is remote you still get— Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: November, December, January, February
