Best season: fall. Visiting in fall gives you the best combination of crisp, clear weather, spectacular foliage, and much smaller crowds — daytime highs typically range from the mid-40s to mid-60s°F (5–18°C) from late September through mid-October while nights can drop near freezing. Trails and carriage roads are at their most scenic for hiking and biking, and wildlife viewing (including migratory birds) is excellent as the island quiets down after Labor Day. Cooler, stable weather and earlier sunsets make sunrise Peak months: September, October, June, July Avoid: November, December, January, February
Fall is highlighted as best season for foliage, weather, and quieter visits.
