Fall offers the best combination of comfortable weather and spectacular foliage — expect crisp daytime temperatures in the mid-40s to mid-60s°F and chilly nights dipping into the 30s–40s. Hiking, photography, paddling on Basin Pond, and shore fishing are at their peak as the mixed hardwoods turn brilliant reds and golds; early October (before the campground closes Oct 13) can be especially vivid.
