Fall offers the best combination of crisp weather, peak foliage, and lower insect and visitor pressure — daytime highs typically range from the mid-40s to mid-60s°F with chilly nights in the 30s–40s. Trails, ridgelines and the mixed hardwood slopes around Mt. Hastings turn brilliant late-September through early October, making hiking, photography and scenic drives the primary draws. Expect steadier fishing and quieter campsites on weekdays, though early October is popular for leaf-peepers so mid Peak months: September, October, June, July Avoid: November, December, January, February
