January and February draw campers seeking pleasant temperatures and fewer bugs. Fall delivers the sweet spot: mid-60s to low-80s, lower humidity, and calm conditions on the river for paddling and fishing. Summer brings heat, afternoon thunderstorms, and heavier insect pressure. Winter evenings drop cool enough for campfires. The park hosts the Florida Folk Festival each Memorial Day weekend, filling loops with festival-goers and live music. Off-season stretches stay quiet. Reviewers note very low visitation outside peak windows.

Park campgrounds provide potable water at each site, picnic tables, fire rings/grills and centralized services (dump station, bathhouses with hot showers). Lakeview bathhouse is fully accessible; coin-operated washer/dryers are available at Sandhill and Lakeview. A centralized dump station is available. Primitive campsites lack water and electricity; primitive group sites have a shared restroom with flushing toilets and an outside cold shower.
