Campers who read the reviews about semi-permanent setups, reported safety concerns, and accounts from visitors who felt unwelcome will want to weigh those seriously. No potable water, no quiet hours, highway dust, and limited cell signal compound an already unpredictable scene.

Spring is the best time to visit, with highs in the mid-60s to low-80s and mornings around 50-60°F. Wildflowers bloom, streams run full, and bug levels stay lower than summer. Trails are generally dry, making biking and hiking more enjoyable. Weekday visits are quieter than weekends, when families and birdwatchers increase crowds. Summer brings heat and humidity typical of Florida, along with heavier insect pressure. Hunting season runs through fall and winter, so wear bright colors during those months.
