Loop INNR sits beneath mature oak canopy along the Suwannee River, about 12 miles from Live Oak. All 30 sites offer full hookups (electric, water, sewer), a rarity for Florida state parks, plus picnic tables and fire rings. The campground suits smaller to mid-size RVs better than large rigs; most sites are narrow, dirt-surfaced, and perpendicular to the loop road.
Includes a developed campground with full utility hookups, a group camp option, and riverside cabins available for rent.
Historical Significance
Park trails pass Columbus Cemetery, a burial ground from the 1800s, along with earthworks and an old ferry landing that date to early settlement and Confederate activity. The river corridor saw Paleo-Indian occupation and later Spanish explorers before becoming a route for settlers and troops.Weather and SeasonsSpring brings the best window: highs in the 65–80°F range, cooler nights around 50–60°F, and lower humidity than summer. Wildflowers bloom along the river edge, migratory songbirds pass through, and trails stay pleasant for hiking and biking. River conditions suit paddling, boating, and bass or catfish fishing before summer heat and bugs ramp up. Weekends fill but weekdays remain quiet. Summer means thunderstorms and the risk of falling branches. Pack rain gear and check the canopy above your site.
Natural Features and SceneryAncient oaks shade the campground, their branches heavy enough that falling limbs are a real concern during storms. Trails wind through hardwood hammocks, pine forest, and palmetto scrub, with some routes following high bluffs above the Suwannee River. Limestone outcroppings break the surface in places. Views of the river open up from the boat ramp and trail overlooks. Wading birds, turtles on logs, and general riparian wildlife move through the corridor, though camper reports don't call out signature species.
