Best season: fall. Fall offers the clearest weather and the most dramatic scenery — crisp, stable days (typically 40–65°F) with cool nights that often dip below freezing, and vivid late-September to October foliage across the high-elevation landscape. Trails are drier and mosquitoes are gone, making hiking, geology rambles, and stargazing especially enjoyable; crowd levels are lower than summer, so campsites feel more private. Expect occasional early snow late in the season, so bring layered clothing and check for Peak months: September, October, June, July Avoid: December, January, February
Fall noted as best: crisp days 40–65°F and vivid foliage late Sep–Oct.
