Download the Recreation.gov app before you leave home since cell service at the campground is unreliable for on-site
Arriving without the Recreation.gov app pre-installed is a real problem here since there's little to no cell service on-site and that's the only way to pay. Anyone who needs a guaranteed site should also look elsewhere: no reservations means no sure thing, especially on fall week

This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site.
Once on-site, you are able to pay for your campsite(s) by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature.

Best season: fall. Fall offers the best balance of mild daytime temperatures, lower bug pressure, and smaller crowds — ideal for first-come, first-served camping when site selection matters. Expect crisp mornings and pleasant days (typically cool to warm depending on elevation; roughly 40s–60s°F mornings and 50s–70s°F afternoons at many mid‑elevation Meado w sites), colorful foliage where there are deciduous trees, and calmer evenings for stargazing or campfires (subject to local fire restrictions).
