No cell service makes on-site payment unreliable, and there's no reservation option at all, so anyone who needs a guaranteed spot or depends on a phone signal for safety or navigation should think hard before committing.

Best season: fall. Fall is the best time to visit Rider's Camp because temperatures are typically milder, bugs are reduced, and scenery (where applicable) is at its most colorful — making hiking, photography, and evening campfires particularly pleasant. Expect crisp daytime-to-evening swings (roughly 40–75°F depending on elevation and region), so pack layers and a warm sleeping bag; accessibility is usually good before heavy winter weather arrives. Crowds are generally lighter than peak summer, but remember camps: Peak months: October, September, June, May
Seasonal note: 'Fall is the best time...scenery at its most colorful' — explicitly called best season.
