Anyone counting on cell service to pay at arrival: the QR-code Scan & Pay system is the only payment option, and signal is unreliable on-site, so if you forget to download the app in town, you may not be able to claim a site.

Best season: fall. Fall offers the best combination of comfortable daytime temperatures and crisp, clear conditions for exploring—expect roughly 50–70°F by day and chilly nights around 30–45°F. Leaf color, lower insect activity, and steadier trails make hiking, photography, and relaxed campsite evenings especially enjoyable. Crowd levels often drop compared with mid-summer, but arrive early to secure a first-come, first-served site and remember the on-site QR payment and spotty cell service. Peak months: October, September, May, June Avoid: December, January, February
