Nacimiento Campground, Los Padres National Forest
Site #7 puts you right on the creek, Site #1 gives the most privacy, and spring wildflowers plus bald eagle sightings make March-May the clear window. Easy-going host, light crowds at nine sites, and $30 flat covers one vehicle.
No potable water, no toilets on-site, and flies get genuinely bad in summer and fall. Trash has shown up around sites, and the access road can close in wet winters, so if any of those are dealbreakers, this one isn't for you.

Spring is the sweet spot. March through May brings daytime highs in the mid-50s to low-70s°F and nights in the 40s. The creek runs strong, wildflowers bloom, and crowds stay light at a nine-site campground. Winter cools things down with occasional rain that greens up the landscape. Summer heats up to around 95°F during the day, dropping to 39°F at night. Good campfire weather, but expect dust and more bugs.
Spring is 'sweet spot': creek runs strong, wildflowers bloom, mild temps and light crowds.
