Best season: summer. Summer offers the most reliably warm, sun-drenched days and full access to Stumpy Meadows Lake — ideal for boating, swimming, group picnics, and longer hikes. Expect daytime highs around 70–85°F (21–29°C) with cool nights dropping into the mid-40s to low-50s°F (7–12°C), which makes evenings perfect for campfires and star‑gazing. Visitor levels rise on summer weekends and holiday periods, so book the group sites early to secure space for reunions or larger gatherings. Peak months: July, August, June, May Avoid: October, November, December, January
Open and most popular in summer; warm days, best lake access and stocked fishing season.

Black Oak Campground offers a range of group camping amenities, particularly for those seeking a forested getaway. The campground provides picnic and serving tables, grills, and campfire circles at each site. Vault toilets are available throughout the campground, and a dump station is located on-site. Campers are advised to bring their own water as there is no running water at certain sites, although some reviews mention potable spigots. However, water pressure and the lack of hose fittings for RVs were noted as drawbacks.
