Summer offers the most comfortable weather and the widest range of activities — expect cool, maritime conditions generally between about 52°F and 60°F with long daylight hours and frequent light showers. Hiking, boating, fishing, and wildlife viewing (sea birds, whales, and intertidal life) are at their peak and most services and boat ramps are fully available. Note that summer is the busiest time (reservations required June 1–Oct 31) so book ahead to secure a campsite. Peak months: July, August, June

Starrigavan Campsites offer a variety of amenities catering to both individual and group campers. Facilities include picnic tables, campfire rings, gravel tent pads, and gravel parking spurs at individual sites. Vault toilets, drinking water, bear-proof food lockers, and seasonal trash collection are provided. Firewood can be purchased for a small fee, and a dump station is located seven miles away in Sitka.
