Best season: summer. Summer offers the best combination of mild weather and reliable access — expect daytime highs around 50–65°F (10–18°C), long daylight, and generally calmer seas for boating and floatplane travel. Kayaking, boating into fjords, day hikes on lowland trails, and the best salt- and freshwater fishing (coho/king returns and nearshore halibut) are at their peak in July–August, and wildlife viewing (sea otters, seals, whales, and bird colonies) is excellent. Sevenfathom Bay Cabin amenities are relatively basic and cater to those seeking a rustic experience. The cabin itself is 16x16 feet and features a wooden A-frame structure that accommodates up to eight people. Amenities include a wooden double bunk, table and benches, a wood heating stove, cooking counter, broom, axe, and maul. A sleeping loft is accessed by a vertical ladder, and there is a nearby outhouse toilet. Visitors must bring their own sleeping bags, cooking utensils, food, toilet paper, and lighting equipment such as a lantern. Water is available from a nearby stream but needs treatment before use. Firewood may be scarce, and visitors are encouraged to bring their own.
