Go if

Mountain bikers will find the real draw: newly developed trails on Bear and Little Buck mountains plus gravel roads in the North and South Summit areas are right here. Upper sites suit RVs with full sun; lower sites give tent campers shade and seclusion for the same price.

Skip if

No showers, no dump station, and staff reviews are mixed enough to mention. A few reviewers flagged overgrowth and rude hosts, so if well-groomed facilities and a warm camp host matter to your crew, this one may disappoint.

Overview

This forested campground is located on Frazer Creek. Good location for large groups. Beautiful Western Larch trees. Acess to mountain bike trails and scenic drives.

About the campground

The elevation is 4,100 ft. The campground, next to Loup Loup Pass, has two sections on two levels. One section is at "street level" and has spacious sites for car, tent, and recreational vehicle (RV) campers. Some sites in this section are on a small grassy meadow and very sunny. The other section is lower and below the "street level." This section is for tents and pick-up trucks with slide-in campers. Small and compact, this section feels miles away from the upper section. Campsites in both sections are tucked into a stand of mixed conifers, which include Tamarack, Douglas fir, and Engelmann spruce, and enjoy a grass understory. Convenient to Rt 20, this campground is far enough away from the passing traffic to offer a delightfully peaceful forest stay.
