Best season: summer. Summer delivers the best combination of warm, stable weather (daytime highs typically in the mid-70s to low-90s°F, nights 45–60°F) and long daylight hours for boating, float-in camping, and world-class trout fishing. Water recreation — paddling, swimming, floating between secluded sites — is at its peak and insect-hatches often make for excellent dry-fly fishing at dusk. Expect busier weekends and holiday periods, so plan ahead — sites are reservable beginning June 21, 2025. Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: January, February
Summer offers best float/fishing conditions and stable weather, though it's peak season with crowds/reservation issues.

The Green River Float-In Campsites offer basic facilities to accommodate river-goers. Each campsite comes with a picnic table, campfire ring with benches, tent pad, and a privacy blind for portable toilets. Vault toilets are available near Cottonwood and Red Creek camps, but no potable water is provided. "No potable water is available at the campsites" warns the official description, highlighting a critical preparation need for visitors. Campers need to carry all necessary supplies, including water and portable toilets. The campsites are remote and primarily accessible via floating, enhancing their appeal for a wilderness camping experience.
