Best season: summer. Summer offers the best combination of warm, dry weather and full access to water-based and long-distance trail activities — expect daytime highs around 65–85°F and cool nights in the mid-40s to mid-50s. Hills Creek Reservoir and the Middle Fork National Recreation Trail are at their peak for boating, fishing, and multi-day hiking, while campground facilities and access roads are reliably open. Note that summer draws the most visitors and fire restrictions or occasional smoky conditions can occur Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: October, November, December, January
