Light sleepers should know vehicles roll through at midnight and 2am according to reviewers, and swimmers will be frustrated here since the lakes are tough to access from camp. Fish Lake is the better swim spot.

<p>The Twin Lakes Campground is a small minimally developed site on the southern edge of the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area and southeast edge of the Eagle Cap Wilderness. The site is popular with visitors wanting to fish on the boardwalks along Twin Lakes, hike and relax during the summer and fall.</p><p>Trail #1874 takes off from the campground through remnants of an old burn area.</p><p><a href="http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/wallowa-whitman/specialplaces/?cid=stelprdb5238987">Hells Canyon National Recreation Area</a></p>

Late June through early September offers the most stable conditions. Daytime temperatures reach 60-75°F, but nights drop into the 30s and 40s. Snow clears from trails by late June. Wildflowers peak in July. Winter buries the area under deep snow and closes access. Even midsummer nights can freeze at this elevation. Weekend crowds stay light compared to lower campgrounds in the region.
