Best season: summer. Summer offers the most reliable weather and full access to trails and river recreation — expect warm, sunny days (typically 65–85°F) and cool nights (35–50°F), with snow mostly gone from access roads and trailheads. Fishing on the clear, cold Lostine River, day hikes into the Eagle Cap Wilderness, and long daylight hours are at their peak. Expect the campground to be busiest on summer weekends and holidays, so plan reservations or arrive early for roadside sites. Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: November, December, January, February
Noted as popular with fall campers; cooler weather and scenery remain attractive.
All sites have picnic tables, fire rings and parking spaces. The facility provides 8 tent/trailer sites and 5 tent-only sites located below the campground road; the campground is shaded by pine and fir trees. Quiet hours are 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and the primary season of use is generally June through October.
