Best season: fall. Fall offers the most rewarding combination of cooler, crisp weather and striking alpine color as the forest shifts to gold—perfect for leaf-peeping and quieter riverside camping. Expect daytime highs in the 40s–60s°F (5–16°C) with chilly nights dipping to the 20s–30s°F (-6–2°C); hiking, photography, and riverbank relaxation are at their peak while summer crowds thin. Hunting season and increased weekend use by leaf-peepers can raise local activity levels, but with only four sites the campground仍 Peak months: September, October, August, July Avoid: November, December, January, February
