Go if

Hikers heading into Eagle Cap Wilderness or anglers after the Lostine River in early fall get the most out of this place. September hits the sweet spot: comfortable temps, clear water, and a five-site camp that rarely feels crowded.

Skip if

No showers, hookups, or developed services of any kind. If roughing it means more than a picnic table and fire ring, this rustic setup will disappoint. Spring access is also poor, with a seasonal quality score well below summer or fall.
