Best season: summer. Summer offers the most reliable warm, dry weather (daytime highs typically in the mid-70s to mid-80s°F, nights cooling into the 40s–50s°F) and full campground services during the reserveable season, making it ideal for extended hikes, creekside lounging, and warm-water fishing. Trails, bike routes, and access roads are fully open and dry, so you can explore Black Butte, the Metolius headwaters, and nearby alpine lakes without snow or muddy conditions. Expect the highest crowds in July–August, so Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: October, November, December, January
Fall offers cooler temps and fewer crowds; reviewers note it as an ideal time to visit.
