Go if

Horse campers are the obvious fit here, with dedicated equestrian sites and trail access right from camp. Hikers and anglers do well too, bass and crappie on Burr Oak Lake and lake-loop trails keep non-riders busy. Reserve early and ask for a level, shaded site.

Skip if

Tent campers without a sleeping pad rated for slopes will struggle. Many sites are hilly and reviewers consistently flag cramped, unlevel pitches. No cell service and no camp store mean you're fully on your own once you arrive, so pack everything including your own toilet paper.
