Summer offers the best combination of reliable access, warm daytime temperatures, and the fullest canyon experience — the Rio Fernando de Taos is at its most inviting and the mature trees provide welcome shade. Expect daytime highs in the 70s to mid-80s°F and cool nights in the 40s–50s°F, making evenings comfortable for campfires and stargazing. Fishing, creek-side relaxation, and the easiest hiking access are all at their peak, though afternoons can bring monsoon thunderstorms so plan hikes for Peak months: July, August, June, September Avoid: November, December, January, February
