Amenity-dependent campers will feel the gaps fast. No showers, no hookups, no water on-site, and only four sites total mean you're either self-sufficient or driving the 8 miles back to Eureka for supplies every day.
Compare with similar sites, watch availability, and build a packing list — Camp Sage handles all of it.
Best season: summer. Summer offers the warmest, most reliably dry weather for lakeside hiking and enjoying the quiet shores of Swisher Lake, with daytime highs typically in the mid-60s to mid-80s°F (18–29°C) and cool nights in the 40s–50s°F (4–12°C). Trails and the 0.42-mile motorized-vehicle-free approach are fully accessible, insects peak early in the season but are manageable by mid-summer, and the four-site campground fills only on holiday weekends so you’ll usually have a peaceful stay. Summer is warm/dry, trails and walk-in access fully open; best season for activities.
Four sites with picnic tables and fire rings; a vault toilet and a hitching rack are provided. The campground has easy access to the lake and is reached by a 0.42-mile access road that is closed to all motorized traffic.
