No cell service, no showers, hand-pump water, and unplowed winter roads make this a hard pass for anyone expecting hookups or a reliable way to call for help from a remote Schoolcraft County forest.

Fall is the standout season. September and October bring daytime highs in the 45–65°F range (cooling to the 30s–50s by late October), brilliant color, and drastically fewer mosquitoes. Fish feed aggressively before winter, making fishing and paddling excellent. The eight-site loop fills less often than in summer, so you get quieter lakeside solitude. Nights can be frosty by late October. Summer offers full access and flowing well water but expect bugs and more competition for sites. Winter roads go unplowed, limiting access to the truly committed.
Fall is called the standout season: brilliant color, cooler temps, far fewer mosquitoes.
Rustic state forest campground with basic, low-service facilities: vault (pit) toilets, potable water from a hand-pump well, fire rings and picnic tables. No electricity, no showers, no dump station, and sites are first-come, first-served (no reservations).
