Once the site of a Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp (established in 1934). Camp Cook offers 4 campsites that can be reserved singly or as a group. The large, grassy opening of site #4 makes it particularly well-suited for group gathering such as scouts or family reunions. It's proximity to the Fishdam River makes it popular among anglers and the drinking water and toilet are ideal for hunters looking to set up camp for deer season.

Best season: fall. Fall offers the best combination of peak foliage, cooler stable weather, and far fewer bugs and crowds — ideal for hiking, paddling and shoreline photography. Expect crisp daytime temperatures generally in the mid-40s to mid-60s°F (40–65°F) with chilly nights; peak color is usually late September into the first week of October. Trails and lake views are at their most scenic and fishing and paddling are still very good, but note the campground closes Oct 9 so plan for early October or late- tomid Peak months: September, October, June, July Avoid: November, December, January, February
Fall is standout: peak color, stable cool weather; campground closes Oct 9 so early fall is best.
