Lincoln Bridge State Forest Campground sits along the Pine River (also called the Little Manistee River) at 974 feet elevation near Luther. The nine walk-in tent sites are first-come, first-served and scattered among mixed hardwoods and pines, each requiring a 20- to 50-yard carry from the parking area. Amenities are basic: vault toilets and a hand pump for potable water. The campground attracts paddlers, anglers, and mountain bikers looking for a quiet base near good trails and river access.
Rustic, walk-in tent-only state forest campground with nine walk-in sites (20–50 yards from parking); first-come, first-served.
Weather and SeasonsSummer is the most reliable window for camping here. Daytime highs typically reach the mid-70s to mid-80s°F, nights cool into the 50s and 60s. River levels settle enough for paddling and fishing, trails dry out for biking and hiking, and wildlife viewing peaks. Spring can bring higher, faster water. Good for experienced paddlers but harder to fish. Fall turns the hardwoods but also brings cooler, wetter weather. Winter closes the seasonal road; the campground isn't plowed, so snow season visits require backcountry skills and gear.
Natural Features and SceneryThe campground occupies a wooded ridge above the Pine River, where sandy soils support a canopy of hardwoods and pines. Short trails drop down to the riverbank, making it easy to slide in a kayak or cast for trout. The river here runs clear and narrow. Mixed forest stretches in all directions, and the area's rolling terrain offers habitat for deer, warblers, and songbirds. Sites are tucked individually into the trees, giving each a screened, private feel despite the small footprint of the campground.
