Set among a stand of red pines, the rustic CCC Bridge State Forest Campground is located on the banks of the beautiful Manistee River. It offers excellent opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, tubing and fishing. Visitors will also enjoy an abundance of nearby off-road vehicle trails. There are 31 sites for tent and small trailer use. Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay. Amenities include vault toilets and potable water from a hand-pump well. The campground is located 22.4 miles southwest of Grayling via M-72 East and Sunset Trail Road Southeast. Sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations. Summer brings warm, stable weather with daytime highs around 75–85°F and nights in the 50s–60s. The river is best for swimming, tubing, and paddling during this time, though mosquitoes are heavy in the evenings. Weekends fill early because all sites are first-come, first-served. Fall sees another surge of visitors during deer season, with quieter conditions and fewer bugs than summer. Pack insect repellent for warm-weather trips.
