Go if

Paddlers and bank fishers after bluegill and perch will get the most from this spot. The lake is genuinely swimmable in summer, sites face the water, and free first-come camping in the national forest is hard to beat if you're self-sufficient.

Skip if

No potable water, no vault toilets, and only three sites with no reservations means you might drive 25 minutes from Baldwin to find it full or trashed. Google Maps directions are reportedly wrong, so call the Baldwin ranger station before you go.
