No potable water on-site means hauling every drop yourself, and the four first-come sites fill without any reservation option. Trailers over 15 feet won't fit, and the nearest emergency help is 19 miles out at Slate Creek Ranger Station.

<p>Located on the cusp of the magical and mysterious Gospel-Hump Wilderness, hikers, campers, anglers, hunters and families alike will find four campsites with parking, picnic tables, firerings and a trailhead marking a trail which skirts the edge of the Wilderness. Summer brings the most reliable access and best overall conditions. Expect warm days in the 60–80°F range and cool nights dropping to the mid-30s or low-50s. Snow clears from trailheads, trails into the wilderness open fully, and Slate Creek fishing peaks. Winter brings deep snow that may close access roads, though the area becomes a destination for snowshoers and cross-country skiers willing to navigate the conditions. Fall offers golden larches and bugling elk.
