Best season: summer. Summer offers the most reliable access and the best weather for hiking the Moss Springs Trailhead and traversing Grande Ronde Ridge — expect daytime highs around 60–75°F and crisp nights in the 30s–40s°F. Wildflower displays and dry trail conditions peak from late June through August, making packstock and long backcountry trips much easier. Crowds remain moderate because of the remote ridgeline location, but this is when trail and ridge views are most enjoyable and services/road access are least Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: December, January, February
Summer is most reliable for access and hiking; dry trails and wildflowers peak then.
