OHV riders and tent campers who pack their own water and want wide site spacing without paying for hookups they don't need. Site 7 connects directly to a half-mile nature trail, and the Blue Mountain OHV trailhead is right there.
No potable water onsite means every drop has to come with you, and the narrow parking pads at several sites make anything beyond a small trailer genuinely awkward. Emergency services are 30-40 miles out in Prairie City or John Day.

<p>Situated along Highway 26 which is part of the <a href="http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/wallowa-whitman/specialplaces/?cid=stelprdb5226794">Journey Through Time Scenic Byway</a>, Oregon Campground offers campsites for both tents and small trailers. Popular activities include; overnight camping for visitors traveling across the state, picnicking, exploring along the byway and OHV riding at the adjacent <a href="http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/wallowa-whitman/recreation/recarea/?recid=52589">Oregon OHV Trailhead</a> of the <a href="http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/wallowa-whitman/recreation/ohv/?cid=stelprdb5292558">Blue Mountain OHV Trail System</a>. </p>

Summer brings daytime highs around 65–80°F and cool nights dropping to 35–50°F. Late-afternoon mountain showers occur occasionally. The campground opens in June when trail access improves and closes in September. Crowds stay light except holiday weekends. Sites in full sun get hot during peak summer; shaded spots stay naturally cooler.
