<p itemprop="description">Dumont Lake Campground is 22 miles southeast of Steamboat Springs, just minutes off of U.S. Highway 40 (Rabbit Ears Pass) between the towns of Steamboat Springs and Kremmling.</p><p itemprop="description">The campground is made up of 22 sites and are combination of pull-through and back-in sites<br />(17 are reservable through <a href="http://www.recreation.gov/camping/dumont-campground/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=75441" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">recreation.gov</a> and 6 sites are first come basis.) </p><p itemprop="description">Each campsite offers a fire grate and a picnic table.</p><p itemprop="description">The nearby lake is located at the <a href="https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/mbr/recarea/?recid=22686">Picnic Area</a>. Some sites offer a view of the lake which is within walking distance from the campground.<br /><br />The campground offers vault toilets, picnic tables and firegrates. No potable water is available. </p><p>Activities include fishing, boating, hiking, backpacking, and mountain biking at or near the lake. (Note, E-bikes are only allowed on designated Motorized Trails and Forest Service Roads.)<br /><br />Dumont Lake is restricted to electric motors or hand propelled boats only. The lake and stream offer opportunities for trout fishing enthusiasts! </p><p>The area borders on the Continental Divide and sits on top of the Park Range, offering spectacular views of several Colorado mountain ranges, and welcomes bird watchers and wildflower viewing!</p><p itemprop="description">Visitors wishing to hike a scenic trail can reach the two-mile Rabbit Ears Trail from the campground and the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail just a short drive away.</p><div class="usa-alert usa-alert--info usa-alert--slim"><div class="usa-alert__body"><p class="usa-alert__text">This site was approved for a fee change - <a class="usa-link" href="https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/mbr/fire/?cid=FSEPRD1092198">Click here for more information</a></p></div></div>
The elevation is 9,500 ft. The campground, near Dumont Lake, is composed of one large loop with a small loop inside and two-site spur (sites 14 and 15) with no turnaround. Most sites are well separated and have a panoramic view of a large alpine meadow. The majority of pull-throughs can accommodate almost any size RV. The lake is accessed via a short trail through the day-use area.

The water spigots are hand pumps.
Dumont Lake is 50 acres. Power boats are limited to electric motors.
The parking aprons are gravel. An RV waste station is available for a fee at KOA campground in Steamboat Springs, CO - west of downtown on US Rt. 40. There is potable water.
From Steamboat Springs, CO, take US Rt. 40 east 17.3 miles to campground sign (Forest Rt. 315 - paved). Turn left at sign onto Rt. 315 and go 1.2 miles to another campground sign. Turn left into campground.

<p>Welcome to Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests and Thunder Basin National Grassland! Visitor opportunities abound on almost 2.9 million acres of National Forest System lands.</p> <p>The Medicine Bow and Routt National Forests provide year-round recreation opportunities for you. These activities include hiking, biking, camping, horseriding, OHV riding, fishing and hunting, just to name a few. Beautiful vistas await sightseers and photographers.</p> <p>The topography varies greatly within the national forests. Elevation ranges from 5,500 to 12,940 feet. The climate ranges from semi-arid at low elevations to colder and less arid in the high country. Frost may occur at any time, and visitors to the higher elevations should be prepared for harsh weather, including snow and high winds, even during the summer months.</p> <p>The Thunder Basin National Grassland provides unique opportunities for recreation, including hiking, sightseeing, hunting, and fishing. There are no developed campgrounds; however, dispersed camping is allowed. Best season: summer. Summer offers full access to Dumont Lake, trails and services (campground open June 30–September 13), with the most reliable weather for hiking, boating and trout fishing. Daytime highs are typically around 65–70°F with crisp nights near 40–50°F, producing long, comfortable days and spectacular wildflower displays in the alpine meadows.
