Rocky Mountain National Park's 415 square miles (265,807 acres) encompasses a spectacular range of mountain environments. From meadows found in the montane life zone to glistening alpine lakes and up to the towering mountain peaks, there is something for everyone to discover. Along the way explore over 300 miles of hiking trails and incredible wildlife viewing.
Driving from the east: from I-25, take US Hwy 34 or 36. Driving from the west: from I-70, take US Hwy 40 to Granby to US Hwy 34 to Grand Lake. From mid-October until late May, Trail Ridge Road between Estes Park and Grand Lake is closed to vehicles, so driving between the two takes ~4 hours. The closest airport is Denver International (DIA). There is no public transportation between nearby cities and the park.

Aspen and willow color in the surrounding valleys and the elk rut peaks in late September and early October, making wildlife viewing and photography exceptional. Moraine Park Campground in Rocky Mountain National Park offers a variety of amenities to enhance the camping experience. Campers will find single-family tent-only sites, walk-to tent sites, and RV sites without hookups. The campground provides picnic tables, fire rings with grates, and food storage lockers at each site. Flush toilets, vault toilets, potable water, and dishwashing stations are available in designated areas. During the summer, a dump station is operational near the entrance, and firewood is sold in the evenings. Solar shower stalls are provided, though campers must bring their own shower bags as these are not supplied. Roads within the campground are paved, and parking spurs are gravel. Seasonal amenities include a ranger station and ranger-led programs at the amphitheater in the C-loop during the summer months.
