Best Time to Camp at Long Draw Campground

Perched at a breathtaking 10,000 feet, Long Draw Campground offers a true high-altitude experience where summer days bring dramatic afternoon thunderstorms that roll across the peaks, filling the air with the fresh scent of rain-washed pine. These spectacular weather displays often give way to crystal-clear evenings perfect for stargazing. Be prepared for crisp mountain nights even in July and August—the thin air and elevation create wonderfully cool sleeping conditions. As autumn approaches, golden aspens paint the landscape, while winter transforms the area into a snow-covered wonderland that may temporarily close access roads.
