Best season: fall. Fall offers the most reliable combination of stable, dry weather and firm OHV trails—perfect for using Davis Flat as a motorized basecamp. Expect daytime temperatures typically in the 60s–80s°F (15–27°C) with cool nights in the 40s–50s°F (5–12°C); storms are infrequent so roads and campsites stay accessible. Trail conditions are at their peak for motorized riding, crowds thin compared with summer weekends, and smoky summer fire activity usually diminishes by October. Peak months: October, September, May, April Avoid: December, January, February
Overview: 'Fall delivers the best conditions for motorized camping; trails firm and dry.'
