<p>This campground sits at 7,600 ft elevation. It is nearby to Big Meadow Creek, Buck Rock Lookout, and trails into Jennie Lakes wilderness.</p><p><strong>Natural Features: </strong>The Sequoia National Forest is located at the southern end of the Sierra Nevada in central California. The forest is divided into three districts that comprise 1.1 million acres. The Hume Lake Ranger District, in which this campground is located, has elevations range from about 1,000 along the Kings River near Pine Flat Reservoir and to 11,000 feet, the peak of Mt Harrington. This land scape is home to 13 Sequoia Groves and the majestic Kings Canyon.</p><p><strong>Recreation:</strong> Several trails pass nearby, offering excellent hiking, and streams along the way provide trout fishing. At Lake Hume, approximately 15 miles away, visitors enjoy swimming, non-motorized boating, fishing and hiking. The trails in the district are open to hikers, horses and bikes (however, bikes are not permitted in wilderness areas).</p><p><strong>Facilities: </strong>This campground has one vault toilet. Each site has a table and campfire ring. There is no water provided or food storage boxes. This is bear country and proper food storage is required. There is also no trash services, so pack it in pack it out.</p>

July through September brings the most reliable access and warmest conditions, with daytime highs between 60 and 80°F and nighttime lows from 35 to 50°F. The Buck Rock Lookout and nearby alpine lakes become accessible once snowmelt clears the trails. Creeks run pleasant for wading and fishing after the melt. Winter closes the campground under snow, with temperatures dropping below freezing. Moderate crowds appear on weekends and holidays during peak summer months.
July–Sept offers most reliable access and mild daytime temps (60–80°F); ideal camping season.
