Boaters who want a full day on Shasta Lake and a quiet night at the end of it. There's one site, no fee, vault toilet on-site, and boat traffic stays on the water rather than rolling through your camp.
No potable water means hauling everything you'll drink across the lake. Add no showers, no hookups, first-come availability on a single site, and summer highs pushing 100°F, and this trip punishes anyone who underpacks or arrives to find it taken.

Arbuckle Flat is one of four boat-access only campgrounds on Shasta lake. Located far up the Pit Arm of the lake, this facility is very popular with those visitors who want to get away from the crowds. Whether or not the access is difficult varies depends on the current lake level. There are vault toilets and no piped water. This is a "pack it in, pack it out" facility.

Compare with similar sites, watch availability, and build a packing list — Camp Sage handles all of it.
Summer brings the best conditions for reaching Arbuckle Flat, with daytime highs between 85 and 100°F and warm water temperatures ideal for swimming and water sports. Long daylight hours make boat access straightforward, and the oak woodlands shift from green to golden as the season progresses. Weekend boat traffic picks up on the lake, though the boat-only access keeps the campground itself quiet. Spring and fall offer milder temperatures, while winter can bring rainfall and cooler conditions.
Seasonal notes: summer best for access, warm water temps ideal for water activities.
Arbuckle Flat Boat-In Campground offers a more secluded camping experience, as it is only accessible by boat and located far up the Pit Arm of Shasta Lake. This makes it a popular choice for those seeking to avoid crowded areas. The site has vault toilets and a 'pack it in, pack it out' policy for waste management. However, potable water is not available, and campers should come prepared with their own water supply. Picnic tables are present, but there are no shower facilities or electricity hookups.
